Wow! remember when we were taught:
I cried because I had no shoes
Until I met a man who had no feet…
Yesterday I ed my rent increase
Even though I knew I would survive—
so, last night I went out for a winter drive.
Passed a bus stop bench and saw a man
Preparing newspapers for the freezing night;
For him, there was no warm bed-place in sight.
No matter how devastating things seem to be
There’re always others worst off than you and me;
Count your blessings and look around and you’ll see:-
So, I check all the gift cards that my wallet had,
Stopped at a Walmart and got a blanket and a pad—
Then returned to the bus stop and dropped off the bag.
Went back home and got down on my bending knees
And thanked God for being able to meet my needs
And likewise, to go and sow labor of love seeds:
Got up, put on some music for a sweet night’s dream,
As I lay there echoing: To God be the blessed glory
As I slowly fell asleep to Trane’s Love Supreme:-
