It has been written that
One does not light a lamp
Or a candle and then hide it
Away that the light may not
Be seen by others;
Rather, the lamp or candle
Is placed on a stand so that
Whoever enters its room
Will see its light.
It has further been written that
The eye is the light of the body;
And insinuates that when the eye is good
And full of light so is the body full of light
But that if the eye is not good and filled with evil,
Then the body—likewise—is full of darkness.
Now, common-sense-awareness reminds
That light is a revealing entity, whereas darkness
Is a shadowing—hiding— entity of awareness.
Thus, such scriptural references to light, may
Be concluded that, this metaphoric reference to light
Is none other than the wisdom and divine love
Reflected in the sacred words of Our Creator:
“Let There Be Light!”
In symbolic awareness, that which has been written
Is further allegorically revealed and taught with
The daily rising of the sun and the circadian rhythmic
Waxing and Waning of the reflective moonlight.
Thus, we who have been blessed with scribing
The light of the poetic word must always be aware
That the light within us is always filled with inspiring flames
And illuminating awareness of goodness—reflecting God’s
Divine wisdom, love, and guidance—in every penning word.
Indeed, whenever and wherever we poetically pen the word,
Let the light Jesus gave to us forever shine…shine…shine…
Dispelling despairing darkness—reflecting the illuminating
Enlightenment of the oneness of God’s peace and love—
Our every penning, a lampstand of reflective liberation.
“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…”
“Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine…”
“Jesus gave it to me…[I’m gonna give it to you]...”
“Let it shine…let it shine…let it shine…
