Shield me from harm’s ways,

always damaging my sail,

saturating my spirit in waves

leaving me to shore-up a shell

Make me lively like the sky,

kissable against the moon’s maim,

a colorful pallet that meets the eye

African giant,

kente kufi donned,

skin two times bronzed

silk like churned butter.

Pride like the lion,

hyena's hate,

scar's brother,

the perfection son.

Many a women flocked,

but he chose one

made her his queen

and bowed only to her.

Together

their spirits spurred intimacy

til he fertilized a seed

later naming the sprout Symba.

moon beams

like a safari

lustered the night

reefer smells dwindled

A young black pioneer

paved his way

like cement trucks,

solidifying his road ahead.

He worked hard no less

even when the load was light,

albight slacking off

existed as the next man's leaning.

He kept beaming,

telling himself often,

your lumens will shine

light on the world.

Unfurl your roots he said,

dig deeper without measure,

shovel your melanin

and you'll find its treasure.

Lay with me in the grit of jet black sand

bracing for the near storm holding my hips;

prior to wind's bellows stroking every hair strand

kissing my sleek neck before chaffed lips.

Against the thunder and lightning array,

shield me, blanketing my wide-open hinges;

and as the scene has come to a delay,

hoist me above the superficial singes.

Strum on my center, lower, and louder,

until we arouse the lightening,

and as it eventuates in power,

may we make sound music fittingly.
