Chances are...
we
are aware of our surroudings
we have received instruction
become experienced
by people of good character
and been influenced by others
much like the great sequoia trees growing
as we go through life marked by its experieces
knowing good times and having difficulties
in some ways gaining insights
having deep roots
to draw nourishment
from the earth
believe that something
greater than ourselves exists
characteristics
like days and nights
looked to the stars
to the heavens
and to the great beyond
controlled by an unseen force
which guides us
as it guides the cosmos
as we grow towards
the warmth of a sun
which showers us
with many wonderous sights
or burns us when we are not
mindfull of its ways
even though it might only be
the nearest star of many
in a universe, turning
against an ocean of night
we open our souls
to receive its blessing
and if fortunate, passing on
the gift of life
