I have seen the changing of the tides
and have felt the tides of change as
I have walked the sidewalks, grasses
and mud in this life’s strides.
I have swam in the rivers,
oceans and seas of this life—
climbed the trees, the hills
and mountains of its strife.
Yet, I have not experienced
the equanimity that should exist
between you and me:
Pity the shame heaped upon you;
denied the same equanimity too.
