ANOTHER JUNETEENTH REFLECTION...

Though things are not

where we want them to be

in this land of the brave and

supposedly free

where ideologically

it’s declared that all

[we]...are  born free

and endowed with certain

liberties…[and]...the pursuit

of…[liberated]… happiness

we must still find

the time to enjoy the gains

we’ve thus far claimed:-

the beauty of nature

is for us too

as we continue

in our sojourning future…

violets remain faded blue

and roses’ red is fading too

as nature teaches her lesson

to blacks like me and you…

as quiet as it’s kept

god made flowers

black like us too

and let’s not forget

the ebon night

and the moon

reflecting

the sun’s glow

of our flight…

so let us enjoy

but never forget

that we are not

there yet…

as we wearing red

celebrate the blood

heroines and heroes shed

above and underground

making “mr. lankon’s” delayed

proclamation to be read…

trying to stop the revolution

that’s been given to new youths

with the liberation solution

to solve the constitution’s

ideological dissolutions:

hey juneteenth…is here

and they still have us

to forever fear: it’s

celebration time…

hey…come on!
