Just as I am
What you see is what you get.
Your inability to understand me
Doesn’t require change on my part
Just further research on yours
See, I have no regrets.
I do me as I see fit
In accordance with His acceptance
Regardless of other’s questioning.
Molded and shaped over time
By known and unknown events,
Guided through the darkness
By His light I’ve spent
Hours, days and nights
Hands folded and knees bent.
Not asking for easier times just
The strength to make it through.
Learning how to better understand myself
So I can learn how to see a better you.
This is where the true beauty of us all
Is supposed to shine through.
When you look inside yourself
And you’ve received confirmation
Of the conformation of becoming
A better version of yourself
Than you were prior, be prepared
Because when the floodgates of
Soul filled joy and happiness open,
Well, let’s just say I hope you’re thirsty.
Because you will undoubtedly
Experience something
You’ve never felt before.
And it’s different every single time.
You see, all things beautiful
Aren’t always seen,
They’re felt.
And no amount of dressing up
Or make up will be able to touch it.
Just imagine for a moment
Your true authentic self
Accepted and celebrated
As you were created!
When we see each other with open minds
Instead of passing unauthoritative judgment
We have a tendency to see all things
And everyone, ourselves included
In an entirely new light.
And that there my friends,
Is the true beauty in
Being made up without makeup.
