The anthems in our sojourning struggle made it as plain
As the light of day;
Without a shadow of a doubt, deep in our hearts, we should
Know and believe,
That no matter what, without fear, we must and will overcome
It all, one day:-
Yes, we were and continue to be nourished by the enlightening
Words of our anthems;
Despite the spiked stones in the road of our sojourn, we must journey
Onward in a steady beat.
Let us ever be mindful that the Civil War was fought not for us; rather
They fought that war because of us.
Yes, the Civil War was fought to see who, in history’s changing times,
Would have power over our destiny;
Today, we have to and must maintain that bigoted racist oppression
Will never have power us:-
And to ensure such today, it is as plain as ever has been, that we must
Become the architects of our destiny;
Liberation is not given but is designed and chartered by those who win it
By whatever means necessary.
