I am so pissed
Spending valuable moments out of my day
Spraying words on this note pad like
construction laborers paid by the hour
I didn’t take my union mandated thirty-minute lunch break
Skipping the cheese steak sammich with no onions
Just mayo on the side
I just had to write this poem
Before somebody sees me in a crazed state of mind
on the 6 o'clock news
And when I get that feelin’
So opposite of Marvin Gaye
I had to get this out of the way
To remove the ugliness I still feel about you
‘Cause God don’t like it
And I heard it through the grapevine
what you said about me the other day
Years
Tears
And court dates
Since I had that feelin’ about you
Long time comin’
Long time gone
Trying to forget who you were
Not particularly concerned where you go
Who you be with now or
any of the tomorrows laying ahead on your railroad track
Hell no to the Jackson Five
I don’t want you back
And they ask me
Still
I don’t know why they do
No
I never wished you any harm or ill will
Just for you to chill in another part of the universe
where the things you do and did
Makes sense to the inhabitants of your own planet
But here I am
Spending time out of my valuable day to
Let out some ugliness on my computer notepad
Last drippings of the
“Being Once Married To You Blues”
I thought the bottle had long dried out
But you got another poem out of me
And when I get that feelin’
I need poetry healing
A moment to write
To be right
To once again
Get you out of my head and onto blank page
and
On to the next poem…
