"Black Woman, Blonde Ambition"
You wear the weave, you sell the weave,
you spend hours sewing in the weave,
you and others sell your natural hair to
create the weave.
What are we teaching our young
Nubian Princesses?
What are we showing our young
black women?
What are we teach our young
Nubian Princes?
What are we teaching our young
black men?
The fake blonde ambition?
The long hair weave is really
where black women shouldn’t be at.
Instead of loving our women with
whatever hairstyle they flex.
This fakeness is a mess.
Yes it's true that women have right
to wear their hair style they choose,
but not every basketball player male
or female can be like Mike...
Be your own self, in your own beauty.
Loving your individuality should be
something we cherish, not bury away.
The world wants us to keep in our minds
that the white way is the only way to go.
I say hell no!
I say let the waviness grow…
Let it be short,
let be dreads,
let it be cornrows
let be the original
style that God placed
on your head.
Black women, in the world we love
you, we want you, we desire you, we dream
about you.
Let the white ideal go and let the natural hair that
God had deemed a gift… Grow, so many of other races
are attempting to style their hair with the same type of flare.
Then why do we try to change the beauty that is
within us.
We do it by lightening up our skin, changing the
color of our eyes, changing our nose size. Let us
rejoice in black ambition, the marvelous black creation.
