The Residual Pain of Slavery

CATEGORY

Slavery and sharecropping were basically the same

This torture didn’t end until the 1960’s, so it’s still embedded in our DNA

That rage, fear, and hopelessness, never quite went away

Through centuries of bondage and terrorism, we somehow managed to survive

Human beings bought, sold, bred, beat, and slaughtered like cattle, we rarely experienced hope or pride

We prayed to God for freedom, but when it never came, we weren’t surprised.

Indeed. Though the physical shackles are broken, the political, economic, and social ones remain to be conquered! ONE. Peace and Lovw.
