Killing A Day

CATEGORY

life

Been retired not for rehire

for quite a while

Now well up in age long ago left

the partying life stage

Been around so long most all

close friends family have moved

on to a greater place

Gotta find things to do

Back issues cant bowl anymore it

was to b my old man sport

Cant hang with my friends they

all gone

find another avenue to explore

Cant play Basketball any more

so  I come up with this idea

I coined  killing a day somethin

to pass the time not lost in rhyme

I love to ride everyday nearly off

to the lake sometimes I fish

sometimes just meditate

grocery shop other close

by towns enjoyin the scenery

as I ride around

Got my days when need to get another

washer go to the laundry mat

Other times day ride just to

buy scratch off lottery tickets

other lil small towns

VA keeps me pretty busy too

but its all in killing a day

as I head back home

Love to listen to music as I ride

this Lady this song is a nice ride as I travel

Killing Me Softly Roberta Flack youtube

Thanks for this wonderful share, MRMELODY! Only been in VA for a few years. Understand well where you're coming from. The Queen and I came to be near then then new grandson. However, after a year, The son, wife, and baby were transferred to Flordia. Having sold the house in LA, after teaching for years in Jamaica, we decided to stay here; since our daughter was teaching at Columbia, in NY. Getting ready to move from Midlothian to Henrico, Having retired at least 4 times, I still teach part-time. On 02/15/24, we celebrated my 82 birthday, giving God the Glory; for on the 16th, the Queen had surgery (Give God The Glory!.); all went well. We need to get together: mlowe5@aol.com. God still has us here for a reason . From my High School Graduation Class, there is only my baby sister, another close friend, and I, who are still here. I still teach part-time as a Multiple-Subject Substitute and as an AfterCare tutor. God still has us here for a reason: Labors of Love. I often listen to this song while driving back and forth from that Labor of Love. Thanks for the write. ONE. PEACE AND LOVE

Wife had surgery on Friday. That's probably why I got thrown off with respect to the reference. Proud of you for your military and poetic service. Thanks. Peace and Love.
