I n t h i s d r e a m
I’m veiled and pale
gaunt and gray
morphed
into a mist
of filtered
darkened rays
of fading day
I ’ m t e r r i f i e d
rigid hands
choke the reins
wrapped around
my wrists
I ’ m a w a r e
I’m not
the only rider
here
I could not breathe
could not stand
could not bend
could not even send
nor comprehend
t h e S.O.S
I could not help myself
in this dream
I ’ m d e a t h
I sat
strong and proud
upon my steed
but
could not feel
could not smell
could not tell
dew from rain
the scars
the pain
my naked feet
burn
y e t . !
never
touched the ground
I flew
without wings
I fell from grace
I saw the face
of God
I fell
from the sky
like an eagle
or dragon
in sweet embrace
r e c o g n i s i n g . .
the ground
moments before
s a l v a t i o n
long shadows

~ S e e M e ~
I am the riders
of the dream
in this dream
all the horsemen
