A FOURTH OF JULY BLACK FOCUS

Standing here in engrossed

In the cargo of my mind’s

Keloid memories,

I am suddenly aware

That it’s the 4th of July

And that it is self evident

That the founding of America

Led to the near extinction of one race

And abdominal racist enslavement of another:-

Indeed, it is self evident that

In the founding of this country,

Some of the audacious profound lies

Were penned and deemed lies of truth:-

For contrary to what was mendaciously penned,

It is self evident, this nation has yet to praise equality;

Yet to exemplify that all are endowed with inalienable rights;

Truly, it has yet to become a nation of oneness and indivisibility;

And it is self evident that it has yet to assure liberty and justice for all:-

Yes, it is the fourth of July; but it is also self evident,

Some of us, cannot agreeably celebrate his story’s lies:-

Rather, on this national holiday, we must focus on our destiny;

On this day, we must give attention to the progress yet to be made:-

In seeking justice and liberation, only the worker dies; the work goes on;

And in the coming four months, we workers alive have much work to do:-

Considering the upcoming presidential election dilemma for us,

And the Supreme Court’s decision to support presidential criminality,

Let us be able to celebrate newfound strategies in this declared voting war:-
