Cicadas in chorus
Pond Frogs in harmony
                with the night

    owls keep time
    moths frolic with fireflies

    straydogs sing their songs

                          the wind plays
       its remembered melodies

                 the sound of Orisha
                 powers the night

                                         umele
                                        bembe
                                       djembe
                                nayabinghi

                          offerings made
                  Shango has arrived

Thunder Claps Its Approval  .  !

         moonlight choreographs
         the still wet canopies

        like a symphony of steelpans

                       rendering a sonata
                                      in G minor

                     the ancestors came

                                           and all
                         were remembered . !

In my culture, this is how we speak to and honour the Orisha (Ogun) and our ancestors. -::- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x7fAJ1q-3I

Asante. I got it! Thanks for the practice I am getting. Studied Swahili and Arabic in my African Studies minor as part of my undergrad degree some 55 years ago, at Texas Southern University. Went to graduate school in Jamaica (UWI), where I lived for almost 20 years, teaching secondary school and some 6 years at Sam Sharpe Teacher's College. Again, Many thanks for the fueling inspiration you continue to give this 82 year old mind. ONE. PEACE AND LOVE.
