The Allegory Of The Fabled Fir
By: Keith Fuchs
You barked up the wrong tree
When you questioned me;
Inquiry 'bout the evergreen
In the vicinity of the forest green.
If the sole tree, accompanied
by the birch and cherry
Was perched and nestled by the creek
Straining for the summit of the widow's peak
The cedar in the theater
Who weeps beside the beech
leeward;
If a Poplar topples to cobbler
Did it even make a peep or murmur?
If nobody witnessed it's demise
Date/time/week? No information conquer.
Did such the event speculated occur?
Thus the allegory of the fabled fir.
