I’m moving down the highway looking for the exit sign
I’m just trying to get out of town before I’m out of time
I’m out of bounds I hear sounds I see the signs long lines
I’m wide awake I’m not made for chains can’t escape the change
The world seems strange its frost on the trees shivering leaves
Too much rain falling from the sky it’s summer time must be angels crying
Roll the window down to feel the breeze Turn the radio up loud
I want to scream Wake me up from this crazy dream inferred beams
Splash my face in the stream too much space in between
Set the standards high Let the lynches get by everything in order
Look at the slaughter Time to get the house in order
Everybody wants to be a beast dropping bombs on the Middle East
The man of tin knocked on the door we let him in Fetched the oil can
He smiled at us Gave us the peace sign we thought he was a friend
Now we see he’s with the enemy I’m an activist I have to do this
A revolutionist to the cameras I smile high profile Blow a kiss
Name written in a file because I held up my fist when I was a child
No threat yet Too much time may lead to regret don’t sleep on this
Judges on the benches Approvals of lynches No ropes no trees
Guns drawn we on our knees the church is gone those who sit in pews sit alone
Jesus is not here because he’s gone when he’ll return who the hell knows
Hell is here hell is now Feel the fire feels the burn it’s time to read it’s time to learn
Turn off the tube Put the games down Solitude is a god now
I’m an activist I have to do this enlightened like a Buddhist death to traitors like Judas
We live our lives knowing that we’re going to die the journeys long the mountains high
Still we climb what we are trying to find it’s hidden in plain sight not behind
It can be seen better at night it can’t comprehend the light revolutionaries it’s time to unite
It’s time for us to fight for our rights if we don’t all of our children will parish in the night
Like Trayvon Matin we must not forget this if we do it will come back and haunt us
It will happen again to remind us justice is not for us it does not stand behind us
It is the yoke that binds us the illusion that blinds us believe this the law is not just
The truth is it’s just a difficult situation totally complicated we’re lost if we’re not educated
To reserve our history that’s fading by those who hate us debate us and try to disgrace us
Forget about justice all we have is just us hoping in who we put our trust will one day bless us
