You can go anywhere but back home for
change
No matter who you are this fact remains the
same
It’s hard to get pass your past
Like throwing rocks in the sandbox
Miss matched shoes one sock
Breaking windows out of every house on the
block
Known only for who you use to be never for how far you’ve come and how you succeed
They never notice the change they always see you the
same
It’s like bad credit you try to get by but they don’t let it
slide
Remembering everything
how you pulled on your mother’s heart strings
The things you did when you were a kid now you’re
grown
still they won’t leave it alone
Every joint you smoked never read one poem you
wrote
Remembering every drink you took given you crazy
looks
Making an honest living still unforgiven
Why change your name
With the same face connected to the shame
You clean up real good still grimy through the eyes of the
hood
Doing right and what you should
Still suspected of being up to no good
it’s like a felony won’t let you back into
society
Nobody sees the change in you all they see is what you use to
be
this is hardcore reality
A human being trying to be but systematically
still another statistic stacked against me
Never go back home when you change
they will never feel for you the same
In a place where the world seems strange
a stranger in the night feels like infrared beams on me
Where homies turn into enemies
their quick to tell you that you be acting strange
With their hand held out for some change
talking behind your back
saying
You’re not all that
Stay away they don’t care
if you fall they’ll leave you there
Stepping on you like they don’t see you there
this may seem strange but when you change
You can go anywhere but home
No matter what you’ve done and how much you
gave
Behind your back their digging your
grave
Facebook is the only safe place
Where they pretend to like you and grin in your face
The best part about it is you can unfriend and replce
Logging off
The end
