Losing a mother at a young age was hard
But you came in like
A soldier ready to stand guard.
You took care of me
But not just during this tragedy.
Your parents took me in
And raised me like I was their own.
You were never bitter or jealous
And made sure I was never alone.
Weekend visits to dad's house
Ended in drunkin fights.
I would pick up the phone
And you would be there in plain sight.
My cousin, my sister, my best friend, my angel
You are perfect the way God made you.
Homecomings, prom and graduation
Not to mention, the psycho boyfriend situation.
Joined the military and went to Iraq
Them care packages, I knew you were a part of that.
You put together my entire wedding
You see the word "cousin"
Just wouldn't be an appropriate heading.
The birth of my baby girl
It was you who guided me
Through this motherhood world.
My cousin, my sister, my best friend, my angel
I want to thank you.
I may not express my feelings to you enough
But guess where I learned just how to be tough?
Thank you for all you've done
And continue to do for me.
To be half as amazing as you
Is what I'm trying to be.
I love you, I admire you, I support you,
I'm here for whatever you may go through.
While we are both here on this earth
I want to make it clear
You are so much more than a cousin to me.
My cousin, my sister, my best friend, my angel
I can't imagine life without you
I love you.
