hello I am a hoodie

Hello I am a hoodie, do you recognize me?

HEllo I am a hoodie. do you fear me?

HELlo I am a hoodie, do you want to ask me a question?

HELLo I am a hoodie, why are you following me?

HELLO I am a hoodie, you need to hear me!

Hello, I am a hoodie and we really need to talk; why am I lying here, outlined in chalk

Did you think you knew me or recognized my face; or did you through blind ignorance, give me a negative race

Hello I am a hoodie, I come in different sizes and shades; made of various fabrics, from many stitches and grades

Hello I am a hoodie, why did you do this to me; there is now a bullet hole, where a beating heart used to be

What gives you the right, to refer to me as a thug; does the packaging or contents, make cocaine an illegal drug

Your lack of understanding, caused you unreasonable doubt; that's the reason you decided to look at me, from the inside out

Still you didn't see me, you got it wrong again; you looked at the outer coating and assumed you knew, what was within

I had a snack in my pocket and nothing up my sleeve; obviously that is quite different, from the notion you'd preconceived

I offer good protection from the rain, wind and cold: I didn't know I needed to be bullet proof or possess, an impenetrable heart of gold

I can't understand this, I don't know why I should; how could such an innocent object of affection, be so misunderstood

Why was I written off as a lost object, absent of worth; I couldn't have gotten here all by myself, someone had to bring me, into this earth

Why didn't you read my label, as any prudent and honest man would; if you'd cared enough, I couldn't have ever, been misunderstood

How many hoodies have killed anyone; better yet, how many own a lethal weapon, such as a knife or a gun

How many hoodies have fingers, to pull a trigger; I don't even have hands to hold a gun, go figure

I can't climb through a window nor can I steal a car;  in fact not one hoodie, has been charged with or convicted, of a crime thus far

What is it   about me that's so intimidating and instills fear; go ahead and explain I'd really like to hear

You should learn to distinguish, one hoodie from another; we're all individuals and there's distinct difference, between me and my brother

Hello I am a hoodie, listen and listen to me good; I'm tired of this type of attitude and being misunderstood

To all you hoodie critics, please answer this with care; exactly what apparel, does your typical criminal wear
