Nostalgia (When I Was Beautiful)

I can't seem to separate fact from fiction
when I look into your eyes.
I see what was, what is, what used to be, and get lost
in the transition of time.
I forget who I am, what is now, and long for who
I used to be...
your life's inspiration,
your muse.
The quintessence of perfection.
Flawless, untainted by the stigma
of my own afflictions.
I stood there naked
allowing my insecurities to be
exposed.
No darkness,
no secrets,
no shame.
I found neither lust
nor judgment
in your eyes,
only comfort.
Your eyes held the mirrors
to my soul
where I cast the most celestial mirage
to be reflected only by
the one who held it.
You captured an innocence
in me
and the stillness of your voice
spoke life into a spirit that
before you was broken.
You gave me love in its purest form
and I found love's deepest affections
in the sincerity of your smile.
I was beautiful.
Your beautiful muse.
A beautiful I'd never known
until I saw myself in your eyes.
I forget who I am now
And long for who I used to be.
I can't separate fact from fiction...
damn I miss your eyes.
