Our youth and hip-hop

Hip-hop has grown from it's inner-city roots to being worldwide,

Unfortunately, its having a profound negative impact of young black men and there pride.

This aspect of hip-hop, can no longer be tolerated,

along with young black males, promoting self hatred.

Hip-hop is not just a style of music,

it is a culture, borne of poor, inner city life,

that it's almost like a blueprint.

Hip-hop also promotes, one's thug factor, throught braided hair,

baggy clothing, ghetto diction and street reputation,

Black youth, thus feel encouraged to eschew, important concepts of deferred gratification.

Not to be outdone, Young black women play a role in prepetrating hip-hop culture as well,

By rewarding you men who accumulate  the "Bling" or those who live that thug life well.

Talented inner-city youth  should be bright enought to realize,

that what they always see and hear isn't that wise.

So lets face it, hip-hop culture deaden's the drive towards civility and legitimizes backwardness,

If we dont try to promote positive hip-hop, this can become really hazardous.

This poem is very true. Not to many people want to admit that hip-hop is damaging young black youth. Another great poem, that needs to be heard.

Important Public Service Announcement, but Hip Hop has become what it is by Capitalism which teaches greed at all costs, we must walk away from media glorifying hip-hop in negative light without destroying hip-hop's essence which is self determination thru positive expression.....in my humblest opinion.....EXCELLENT WORK though....thanks for sharing!
