You were the one that got away, where did we go wrong, how did I let you go astray?
It’s been 5 years since I last saw you, I think about you from time to time, wondering if I should call you.
Even though I got closure the last time we talked, I still can’t help thinking about the way you smile,
smell and walk.
I hear you will be getting married just in a few days, I could’ve been the one walking down that aisle if
we didn’t go our separate ways. I would be lying if I said I didn’t still care about you, I need to shake
these feelings because we’re done, we’re through.
Back then we were both young and dumb, we did some silly things, looking back on all the hurtful
things you said, that s**t still stings. Maybe if I played my cards right, I could’ve been dealt a better
hand, then today I wouldn’t be sitting here reminiscing; instead you would be my man.
I’m glad you found someone, someone that’s best for you; all I can say is don’t put her through the same
BS that you put me through. But everything happens for a reason, we just wasn’t meant to be, you were
meant to be in my life for a season and not eternally. If I could turn back the hands of time to do it all
differently I would, then maybe you would be here to stay, and I wouldn’t be sitting here writing about
the one that got away.
