THE BIRTH OF A NATION

I carry the gift of knowledge in my womb, a birth of a civilization long forgotten. Where we ruled this land as Kings and Queens, side by side holding hands against the evils of men that tried to enslave us, still we continued to thrive. Until somewhere along the way we started believing their lies and we became comfortable wearing their chains, to just be satisfied with a full belly and a place to lay our heads. They took away our lands but they could never take away our pride as the voices of our ancestors lifted their voice in praise, remember this is the stock you are born from and the spirit from which you were raised. I carry inside of me the spirit of Martian Luther King because he wasn’t the only one to have a dream, but somewhere along the line we lost our ability to believe so our youth is doomed to be lost in this cold calculation of a world it seems. Within me you knew the warmth of protection as the beat of my heart matched yours. I wonder if that the mental gift I shared with you was enough to prepare you for war, if I would have known the struggles you would face I would have attempted to give you more. I wish that I could pull you back inside of me to reprogram your thoughts and give you new eyes to see that the birth of a strong nation and the meaning of life has always been in the palm of your hands, that you have always had the will to be more than you are and that it’s time for you To take a stand. What did our leaders fight and die for if we are not willing to properly nurture our gifts of new life and teach them how to be the future, not to live with what they tell us we can be when our history tells us we were always more than what we seem. Take back your dignity I ask of you and don't forget all of the pain and suffering that those living before went through. No matter what they say you are a king and I am your queen as we roam these lands and we will take it back and be a force to be reckoned with and we will do it hand in hand.
