When I read the words of your poem I felt something real

As I finished each line my spine was greeted by chills

You didnâ€™t know this but Iâ€™ve been going through tough times

I havenâ€™t felt like myself lately I had no idea why

But your words, your beautiful words seem to have resurrected me

Brought my spirits back to life and rejuvenated my energy

Iâ€™ve always admired your scribes and wished one day I could be a subject

The opportunity came and to no surprise I loved it

I donâ€™t know much about you but what I do know I love

Strong black woman, soul filled with love

Queen on her throne, kingdom in her mind

Reigning over her world one line at a time

Beautiful and wise, gentle yet strong

Marching to the beat of her own drum

Orders taken by none

You are a Queen

It takes a King to notice

Itâ€™s incredibly hard to write this I keep losing focus

Because of you and those beautiful words you wrote

If you could pen something this beautiful for a completely stranger

The man who is privileged enough to win your heart may be in danger of losing his own

I write line
After line for her
I don’t even know her
I have this strong urge to show her
What her words mean to me
I have risen out of dreams
To craft lines about her mind
And a pair of brown eyes
I have yet to even see
I read word after word
Then get trapped in a world
Where my sun and my moon
Both kneel at her feet
Her poetry is deep
Every verb feels urgent
Each syllable important
God wouldn’t dare critique
She is poetic perfection to me

While laying bare among the nothingness the day will bring
I wished you were here
Bodies intertwined, flesh upon flesh
Priorities at rest
Our beautiful lazy mess

I fell victim to her
The moment I arrived in her presence
Unbeknownst to her I was dead upon arrival
She rivaled the appeal of women
I’ve seen in dreams
Mirroring silhouettes existing between planes of fantasy and reality
But she was real
I could breathe, touch, feel her
I closed my eyes and began to dream her
Despite the fact we shared the same bed
Blanked by cloud of frankincense and myrrh
I reeked of her, her aroma pleased every sense

â€‹I know she loves me but I don’t know why
I stare in the mirror and see a regular guy
An irregular heart paired with a clouded mind
Flawed from head to toe without a fix in sight
I wish I could meet the man she sees
I’d love to ask him a couple of things
Like how does he smile in a world so cursed
How does he laugh when he’s filled with hurt
What makes him confident the spark will stay when the flame he loves burns miles away
I’m lost, searching for an answer
My insecurities spreading like cancer
I wish my confidence matched my height
I’d be the person I always hoped to be tonight
Face the man in the mirror with my head held high
Without the urge to question why she’s in my life

Lured into her sea
Hook line and sinker
My shoreline felt empty
I knew I would need her
The lighthouse shined brightest the nights she called
I wish I could foresee the engine stall
She took the wind out my sails when her thunder fell
Down on me like a cloud of hail
Now I’m lost at sea
Above her coral reefs
Mocked by the beauty her presence brings
SOS sirens erupt from my chest
I guess loves compass was incorrect
My heart has gone overboard
Without a second guess
It’s only fitting that my mind be next

I’m sinking
Going down with the ship

Now I’m sitting here on her ocean floor
Surrounded by her matter

They kiss you passionately

You have the uncanny ability to bring women to their knees

The spots youâ€™re able to reach

The allure your presence brings

Sometimes I feel like I only know love because of you

She would be able to trace
