Where I'm from

Drugs dealers get more respect than the elderly in the street

And his main b***h got the little girls following her admirably

Sold her soul to the devil so she could be hood rich

And even though they moved out of the hood they still do hoods**t

Cause he slanging dope but not directly out his hand

He passing it to youngins letting them take a chance

And this is what I will never understand

Why do so many people praise the dope man

Their contributing to break down of your community

O but all you see is the rims, nice clothes and jewelry

And they always have the same excuse

"If they don't get it from me they gone get it from somewhere else anyway"

But what that got to do with you

You say you a leader so lead the way

Instead you to worried about what the hood gone say

That you fell off and you don't keep it real

Thinking you soft or calling you weak

But the hood don't love nobody

You feel me

Cause when you get locked up you gone quickly be forgotten

And your main b***h the next man gone be plotting

Of course she going

Sold to the highest bidder

And now you alone, on your own and you bitter

See the hood was built to keep black people down

Keep us in our area so we wouldn't move to their side of town

Government assisted

They wanted it to be free

So you can lay back and live so comfortably

With the mentality that you can't have better

Because after all

"Hey this is free

No need to work the Government got me"

Yea they got you right were they wont you

With a ghetto frame of mind

And a poe mans mentality

Ill mannered and uneducated

Dope fiend and drug dealers

Robbers and killers

Babymamas and babydaddies

Lazy and government assisted

Monkey see Monkey do

That's what they think of you

But aren't we a people that's suppose to be free

Yet were still bonded and chained

With shackles on our feet

There just not visible

For your eyes to see

Because your locked down mentally

See if you buy into these stereo types

Placed on you by society

Then a n***a you always will be

Nothing more nothing less

Beat down by the rest

Loud and over the top

Intimidating and dangerous

I pray for a change in us

A shift of power

Self respect and not neglect

Our heritage

Because our people fought so hard for us to be free

Yet we continue to kill eachother

Beat down and belittle eachother

The poor stealing from the poor

O what a shame

You got the white man taking out your pocket and your brother doing the same

Yet you hate on the people that made it out the hood

Because they had the mind frame to do better

To be better

Just like you should

And yea I know most of em change and look down on you

Like they forgot where they came from too

Instead of building you up

Encouraging you to do better

And of course it won't be a easy task at hand

Cause you steady screaming

"My hood is where I'm staying"

Beliefs of self image brought on by society

Because no one ever told you how great you could be

Educated and successful

Could be your reality

But instead it saddens me

Cause you continue to do hood s**t

Broke but Hey at least you

HOOD RICH
