Don’t be alarmed
it’s just me in a hoodie
walking down the street
in Dunwoody
at Publix picking up a quick pick
and a bottle of liquid
having a nightcap
in a knit cap
in a change of weather
cold like December 25
below zero
chilled bones
cold toes
runny nose
I’m feeling like I’m a
coke on ice
on the rocks
bundled up real tight
looking like a crook at night
what the hell am I thinking?
Nothing I just keep on
drinking
freon fills my soul my
damn it’s cold
with a gust of wind
My eyes are watering
I can’t feel my fingertips
touching my chapped lips
feeling like I’m
on the outside and can’t get in
thanking God that I can
one day it’s hot
the next ice cold
don’t know to stay
home or wear a coat
