The smile on your face
Your voice so soft and sweet
I want to capture this moment
Relive it everyday
Always remember
For I'll never see you this way again
A soft hint of innocence
And a sparkle in your eyes
Seen before so long ago
My sweet Lover
Watching you as you build the blocks
Much like I built up my walls
And then preparing to "demolish" them
Much like you tore mine down
So wild
So independant
Such a carefree spirit
You capture the essense of a child in your 17 year old body
And the kids all love you
Look up to you and adore you
And they just met you
I have never before seen you treat anyone
The way that you treat them
And I can't seem to take my eyes off of you
And then you caught me watching you
Raised your eyebrows then forgot
And went back to your fairytale land
Of castles and princesses and superhero strength
And I continued drawing
With my buddy at my side
And you began to watch me
Our eyes met
And we suddenly went past the civility
Looked away from the pain
We saw each other for the first time
Though we have known each other for years
And I feel as though you may love me
Just a little bit again
The moment lasts a lifetime
But not one minute passes
As the clean up song is sung
And the wall is torn down for the last time
And the blocks put away
The bell rings
The class ends
And when you see later that day
You look away
I stare at the floor
We both walk by
Without one hint of acknowledgement
Yet we both look back
So much in one sidelong glance
We have passed the point of cilvility
You say you will come back
To visit the children again
And I can't wait.
But my dear Lover
Can you not be that way forever?
Maybe you will someday
But for now
For now
I just have to accept that I see a different side of you
When you are with the children.
