I stepped right up
It’s my turn now
To recite…
So here I go:
I have written these word to make a point
Being a poet is much more than you think.
Poets always have something to say
Like Adam Gottlieb said:
“Poet breathe now because it’s the last thing you’ll ever do for yourselfâ€
So I take my breath
I have to take my breath now because I can die behind that microphone
I’ll take my breath and recite because the world’s peace might depend on my piece.
I'll take my breath and close my eyes
This breath is what tells my brain to execute this poem
I have to breathe now because there is fire inside of me that needs oxygen to burn
If I run out of breath I'm going to run out of time
This could be my last chance to spit this verse
........
Now that breath has exited my respiratory system
I have said all that I could
