You want to know who I am? I wouldn't know how to explain it to you.

I'll tell you, I'm Chicana, Mexican-American.

I have the blood of my ancestors rushing through my veins like an angry eagle.

I have the colors green, white and red, painted across my face.

I'm the one you see kneeing before La Virgen de Guadalupe holding a rosario.

I'm not afraid to speak my language, for it's what I know best.

The government wants to take me out of a place that was mine to begin with.

They call me an Alien and a Wetback thinking I'll leave.

I'm not leaving, I'm just as white as president.

Come to think of it, the President ain't even white.

So why they hate on me?

Because I speak spanish and have my own culture and carry my pride as if it was nothing?

Cops see me and they look at me in disgust.

i say the only rascist here is the one distinguishing by color and culture.

I have nothing against you, so why hate on me?
