Heated Path

Walking along the path
Leading to somewhere
I refuse to walk
I don’t have the heart or strength to go far
Half way I go
Passing crisp chilled water
Waving and rocking back and forth
Annoying me extremely
Wishing I was a free as those ripples
I would whimper but I show restraint
Thought I would faint
From the sun’s death glares on my person
Others making this look like child’s play
I wonder how long it would take
For me to get that way
The weather mocks me
So still and uncomfortable
Sucking away the earth’s moisture
Leaving angry hotness as pure as hells’ fire
My inner desire is to roll around in the dirt
It wouldn’t hurt
Perhaps birds got the right idea
But I dare not for people would think me crazy
And there’s dogs roaming the park
And I refuse to have “chocolate bars” stuck to my back
My backpack super heavy
Like its stuffed full of cats
My water bottle runs dry
I wonder why
Only sighting its’ contents trailing me in progress
I thought of sending out an SOS
For the path I took
Was far for me
Hurrying to proceed
I exerted all my strength
But I made it back
Alive I am
But I won’t stand that heat again
My thoughts
Jogging should be a sin
But I can stand
I will do it again
